Future Oil & Gas 2026 : Thought Leadership – VEERUM

Thought Leadership Presentation by Meaghan Snethlage, VP of Business Development at VEERUM, at Future Oil & Gas 2026.

Meaghan Snethlage of VEERUM, in this insightful presentation, explored why operational and spatial context is becoming essential to the success of AI strategies across oil and gas.

Drawing on VEERUM’s work in digital visual operations, Meaghan explained that the industry has made significant progress in digitising documents, deploying cloud platforms, connecting data systems and capturing physical assets. However, she argued that the next challenge is not simply making more data available, but making that data intelligent, contextual and usable in real operational environments.

A central theme of the presentation was the role of digital twins in connecting the physical asset to enterprise data, engineering drawings, models, work processes and people. Meaghan highlighted that AI cannot reliably reason, recommend or act on operational tasks if it only understands an asset ID in isolation. It also needs to understand location, relationships, access constraints, hazards, permits and the wider context surrounding the work.

The presentation positioned spatial intelligence as a critical bridge between digital maturity and future autonomous operations. Without this operational context, AI may remain interesting but limited. With it, organisations can reduce uncertainty, improve productivity, support operating-by-exception models and unlock more valuable use cases across the asset lifecycle.

Watch the full presentation to hear Meaghan explain how digital visual operations, spatial context and connected asset data can help organisations build stronger foundations for AI-enabled operations.
