Position: Principal Data Scientist, Chevron
Mustafa Kara is a Principal Data Scientist at Chevron's Technical Center and a part of an internal data science consulting team responsible for the delivery and support of analytic capabilities for the upstream business units supporting offshore production facilities in the Gulf of Mexico.
In a prior role, Mustafa Kara worked as a Sr Data Scientist in Anadarko Petroleum Corporation’s centralized advanced analytics organization where he was responsible for identifying and developing differentiating data science capabilities across Anadarko’s business.
Mustafa Kara holds a PhD degree from Georgia Institute of Technology. While a Ph.D. student, Mustafa developed a novel Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code for modeling Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) using the Immersed Boundary Method (IBM). He has a strong background in fluid mechanics and structural engineering, experienced in inter-disciplinary projects involving multi-scale problems and multi-physics modeling. After school, Mustafa Kara worked as a subsea engineer at DNV GL where he performed CFD and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of complex structures and equipment used in Oil and Gas Industry
