Position: Head of Fraud and Cyber, Cyber & Fraud Centre, Scotland
Prior to commencing his current role in April 2024, Alex completed 30 years’ service with both Grampian Police and Police Scotland, retiring in March 2024 as Detective Superintendent, Head of Cyber Investigations and Digital Forensics, a role he held for 3 years. For 4 years prior to this role, Alex was Head of CID in the former Grampian Police area and is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, graduating from Quantico, Virginia in March 2020 as part of class #279.
Throughout his policing career, Alex has led a number of high profile, major and complex investigations including being deputy senior investigating officer and senior investigating officer following the loss of North Sea helicopters in 2009 and 2013 and the Stonehaven Rail crash in 2020.
The Cyber and Fraud Centre Scotland is an employee-first social enterprise that exists to ensure organisations are as resilient as they can be against cyber and fraud crime. In the eventuality of a cyber or fraud attack, the centre and its partners can support organisations and help resume operations and operate Scotland’s Free Cyber Incident Response line on behalf of the Scottish Government
