Ulrich Lorang

Ulrich Lorang is VP Data Governance within Digital Transformation of Wintershall Dea. Wintershall Holding GmbH and Dea Deutsche Erdoel AG have completed their merger on 1st of May 2019 and Wintershall Dea is now the leading independent gas and oil company in Europe.

Ulrich had worked for Dea Deutsche Erdoel AG for 13 years. As a geoscientist he worked in various positions on operated and non-operated Exploration assets and in Business Development in Europe and North Africa. He has led multi-disciplinary teams across countries and has been involved in different strategic projects in Global Exploration as well as on corporate level.

In October 2018 Ulrich was appointed Head of Digital Transformation at Dea. He headed a team that was driving Dea’s digital transformation via prioritized pilots and lighthouses and coordinating digitalisation efforts across the organisation. During this time, Dea started to build a digital twin of its own-operated German Mittelplate offshore oil field. Ulrich in his role was also responsible for training on digital skills within the organisation.

He graduated with an MSc in Geophysics from Christian-Albrechts University (Kiel, Germany) in 2005.
